I can’t wait for the new Coldplay album. I’ve been listening to anything I can get my hands on. They’ve released the following songs so far:
Daddy looks really cool. Love the sound. Dang, Coldplay is just so great with how they experiment with so many different sounds and genres.

Here I am again. Thought I’d get this out of the way at the beginning of the day. Some cool stuff:

My knee really hurts. They both just kinda started randomly hurting. Must be getting old.
Welp, there’s my writing for the day, for now at least. If anything really cool pops into my head, maybe I’ll write a bit more.
I’ve heard that in order to become a better writer, you need to write everyday. So, that’s what I’m gonna try.
I’ve heard it doesn’t matter what you write about or how long you write, but just that you establish a consistent habit of doing it. I think I can do that. I’m really trying to figure out what this blog should be about, but maybe I’m thinking too hard. Maybe it doesn’t have to be about anything. Maybe it can just be a place for me to cement the habit of writing daily.
Creativity is a cool thing. It’s something that just oozes out of you. I feel that way when I play the piano. What I put out goes into the keys and just feels good. I want my writing to feel that way also. First, I want to have something inside of me worth sharing, and then I want to be able to share it. In simplicity. In power. In an emotionally moving way. In a way that sticks with people.
What to talk about. Well, I love the Utah Jazz and they’re doing decently well. Offense has a ways to go until it fully clicks, but when it does, it’ll be something to behold. Our defense is already killer, so when everything comes together, we could be a scary team to deal with. I was too young and didn’t live in Utah when the Jazz went to the NBA Finals. Could they get there again soon? Even this season? We will see.
I just got an antique upright Steinway piano for only a few thousand bucks. It has beautiful tone and plays really well. I really want to get back into the habit of playing more. I want to use my time to develop my talents instead of just surf social media and watch TV. It’s possible, and it’ll make me feel a lot happier and more fulfilled. And maybe in the process I can share some beauty and positivity with the world in some way like I’ve tried to do with my hymns here.
Well, there’s one day of writing down, and infinity more to go. I think I can write each day just about whatever is in my head. Hopefully sooner or later I’ll have something interesting to share that might lead me into a more focused piece that could be exciting for people to read. For now, this blog is more for me than other people. Who knows? Maybe it could morph into something bigger. Here’s to hoping.
As I’ve thought about my goal to write on my blog 5 times per week, I’ve realized a few things:
I haven’t been perfect in posting 5 times per week, but I’ve been at least somewhat close. I feel I’ve just been throwing stuff out there without any rhyme or reason. I think one of my focuses was to see if I could capitalize on any current Google trends. That was how I have been picking posts up to this point.
I might change it up a bit.
As far as recording hymns and sharing them, I’m off to a good start there. I’ve recorded 4 more and I’m posting them gradually. I plan to record some new ones every Friday and then post them periodically in the next week.
I also plan to make this site look better and gradually make it more targeted. I haven’t landed on exactly what I want the niche to be, but I trust that I will soon. For now, I’ve kind of been writing on a bunch of different things to see what I like and also to see what sticks.
I’d like to have one section of this site be dedicated to my music. Still trying to figure out how best to showcase it. I’ve also thought about doing song parodies and maybe even starting some kind of little business where I can make parodies for businesses. Might be a long shot, but I’m fairly good with words.
Everyone seems to be talking about Mysterio in the new Spider-Man: Far from Home trailer. It might be partly because he’s played by Jake Gyllenhaal, and I mean, what kind of woman isn’t gonna be at least a little bit interested in that fact?
Mysterio, according to the comics, is one of the Spider-Man villains. Mysterio is said to have made his first appearance in June 1964 in The Amazing Spider-Man #13 comic. Quentin Beck is the fictitious man who became Mysterio. Beck was a skilled special effects wizard and Hollywood stunt man. When his dream of pushing to the top and making it big as an actor in the film industry collapsed, he turned elsewhere. Quentin Beck’s skill with illusions, he realized, could help him become a powerful super-villain.
Mysterio is also a villain in the Daredevil comics.
According to the old comics, it would seem that Mysterio is bad. However, some are now questioning that as the new trailer seems somewhat vague on that fact. Peter Parker’s friends are in trouble, and Mysterio appears to say to Peter, “you don’t want any part of this” almost as if to say he is handling things and protecting his friends. That said, it is certainly vague. So is Mysterio good or bad? Watch the trailer and decide for yourself. Ultimately, we might need to wait until the movie comes out to know just exactly who Mysterio is and what his role will be.
Writing well can be tough. I like writing because it enables me to say what I want to say in a thought-out, more elegant way. Before writing a sentence, I have to first think about it in my head, visualize it, and then write it down. I often feel I sound more polished and professional through writing. Speaking (verbally) in a way that inspires confidence seems to involve a lot, and it’s a real challenge for me.
To become a master at verbal communication, you need to hone your tone of voice, focus on eye contact, and be concise, yet thorough. I guess it is similar to writing in many ways, but the difference is that it all happens much faster. When I write something, I can take a minute to go back and review what I’ve written. I can revise, tweak, and wordsmith until things sound the way I’d like them to (I have even done that with this post). When someone asks me a question, on the other hand, and I am forced to respond verbally, I have to respond quickly and I don’t have time to edit.
I would like to be a better verbal communicator. People who don’t know me might say I sound disinterested when I talk to them. This is where tone of voice comes into play. Even if I am excited, I sometimes sound bored because of how low and monotonous my voice can be. Improving the way I speak will take some concerted effort. Maybe it’ll take recording myself and listening to how I actually sound. I think improving my spoken communication really could help me come across more professional. It would certainly help in business communication and potential job interviews and what not.
I like writing. It allows me to express myself more eloquently. Now it’s time to work on speaking. 😉
Villanova University is located in Pennsylvania. The university is actually located in a city called Villanova that sits about 12 miles west of Philadelphia. It seems a lot of people wonder where Villanova University is, as it was one of the most searched things of 2018.
Perhaps people became curious about where Villanova is located after the team’s recent success in the NCAA men’s basketball tournament. Villanova has had a great team over the last while with Jay Wright as the head coach. The Villanova Wildcats won the NCAA tournament in 2016 and 2018.
Kliff Kingsbury got hired as the head coach of the Arizona Cardinals after being just recently let go by Texas Tech. Pretty interesting move, and crazy that it happened so fast. Doesn’t seem too often that you lose your job at the college level and then almost immediately get a promotion. But hey, more power to the guy. If Kliff Kingsbury can swing it, why can’t the rest of us? Maybe we can. I encourage anyone to try.
In other news, it’s Elvis Presley’s 84th birthday today. Apparently every year there is an annual Elvis Birthday Proclamation at Graceland in Memphis. We had a blue Christmas (or several, in fact) without him. Celebrating his birthday is a great way to start the new year.
It’s also David Bowie’s birthday. He would have been 71, but died two years ago Thursday. Crazy how two of the most iconic artists were born on the same day. Anyway, his widow paid tribute to him with an Instagram post that read: “My memory loves you. It asks about you all the time.” Rest in peace, Mr. Bowie, while the rest of us freak out in a moonage daydream just to imagine what you’re doing now in the world beyond.
